Oh Christmas Tree

Picking out the perfect Christmas tree is and always has been a major deal for me. Every year for as long as I can remember we head out on a mission full of holiday spirit and cheer, but by the time we visit every tree farm within a 60 mile radius, look at every Christmas tree on every farm, finally pick out the perfect tree, get it home, put the tree in the stand and after several attempts have it stand up straight and in the stand for longer than 30 minutes we are usually not in so merry of a mood!!

This year was strangely different than Christmases past. We loaded up, headed out and decided to stop by a local tree farm, less than 5 miles from our house. Expecting the worst, we parked, got out of the car and walked right to the tree, our tree!

Scott even questioned if I was sure, so just to be certain we walked through the rest of the trees but kept coming back to the same one. We decided we better get it and get out of there before someone else took our tree!

Bonnie Kay and Molly Margaret had so much fun walking all over the tree farm and were very pleased to find the perfect tree for their second Christmas!

Two little elves on a mission!

We got back home and Scott began the task of getting the tree in the stand and in the house.

That too went off without a hitch!

Without even one cross word we were able to begin decorating the tree that very evening.....Scary!!!

I was just certain that the tree was going to be infested with termites, catch fire, fall over....something. It was just way too easy!

While the Girls napped, I got the lights on the tree so it would be ready for them to decorate once they got up!

Bonnie Kay and Molly Margaret thought they were such big girls playing on the step stools...and giving Mommy and heart attack!

They were very excited about hanging all of the shiny "balls" on the tree!!

Ta Da.......

Once we were "all done" Daddy bundled the Girls up and took them out in their wagon so they could see the tree and house with all of the wreaths and lights from the road.

And of course the Twincesses had a tree decorated all in pink in their room! They loved it so much I left it up through the middle of January.....I seriously considered hanging hearts from it for Valentines, but I snuck it down one day while they were at their Cece's house! This photo does not do it justice....it's so so pretty and sweet in person!!

Wedded Bliss!!

It's hard to believe, but on December 7th Scott and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary!

And what a six years it's been!

I can honestly say there isn't anyone else I'd rather spend my life with.

Off to live Happily Ever After.....

I recently ran across these wedding photos and thought they were certainly worth sharing!

This is my Mom and Dad on their wedding day, August 17th, 1968. They would of been married 40 years this past August! Now that's a long time!

Just like Scott and I, they were high school sweethearts. They got engaged when my dad returned home from Vietnam and were married soon after. They were married at Friendship Baptist Church, the same church where Scott and I exchanged our wedding vows. Now, this was August in Georgia in 1968. The church was not air conditioned and at the time I think that day went on record as the hottest day in Georgia history!

Here is Scott's Mom and Dad on their wedding day. January 2, 1982. They were married at a place called Vizcaya which is a historic museum and gardens in Miami. They recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary, which compared to our 6 years is also a huge milestone!

I must say I love the vintage feel of both of these photos! Priceless!

Now, this picture was sent to Scott and I by his Grandmother (his birth Mom's mother that recently passed away) just before we got married. She didn't give us any names or details, but she had written on the back that it was her Maternal Grandparents on their wedding day, so that would make them Scott's Great Grandparents. I'm going to have to email this photo to Scott's Uncle Paul that traces all of the family history and see what he might know about them. For the time, it looks as if this was a very exquisite wedding!

Fantasy In Lights

Scott and I have been going for years, but this was Bonnie Kay and Molly Margaret's very first visit to Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights. Scott and I were very excited about taking them this year and we knew that the Girls would just love it!

Papa and Cece went with us and we took their van. Once we got in line for the lights we decided to unbuckle the Girls from their car seats to give them a little more freedom and a better view. They thought it was pretty neat to be able to roam around the van and be passed back and forth between Mommy, Daddy, Papa, and Cece!

Soon it was our turn to enter the Gardens for the lights. At first, as we started driving through Bonnie Kay and Molly Margaret were a little overwhelmed, but they soon got into it! The Girls ooooed and aaahed over all of the light displays and loved hearing the holiday music.

After driving through the lights we made a stop at the Christmas Village. We decided not to do Santa, but had a good time doing a little shopping and looking at all of the beautiful Christmas trees and decorations in the village.

And of course we had to have a family photo on the famous butterfly bench!

Before heading home Bonnie Kay and Molly Margaret had to have a quick snack and some hot apple cider with Papa and Cece!

Everyone had a great time at Callaway! We are already looking forward to taking the Girls back to Fantasy in Lights again next year!!
